This is a brief run-down on the SE-shield system of fan-supplied, positive-pressure, breath-responsive demand respirators and integrated pressurised protective suits. If you want to find out what the system comprises, in which applications it is used and by whom, this is a good place to start.

is SE-shield?

The name denotes a system of personal protective equipment used in a wide range of demanding applications. SE-shield comprises two main parts: respirators and suits that together form an integrated protective system.

The protective suits in the SE-shield system are available in many materials, and are all completely integrated with the respirator unit. That is, all parts of the system have been designed to work as one.

The suits range from simple dust models to military-grade materials that have been tested for chemical and biological warfare agents such as sarin, nerve gas and anthrax.

All suits can be pressurized by the SE400/SE40 respirator. This generates an air flow inside the suit, not only increasing your sense of coolness and comfort, but also dramatically minimizing the risk of outside air leaking into the suit.

is pressurisation?

Fitted with a special breathing hose featuring a bleed valve, the fan unit of the SE400/SR40 inflates the suit with clean air and maintains a positive pressure inside the suit.

The wearer always has priority over pressurisation. When you are not breathing in air, the suit is inflated.

This not only contributes to the perceived cooling and ventilation of the suit, but also keeps inward leakage down to 0.1% typically.
