Fire. Smoke. Melting plastics. Broken water pipes. Screaming alarms. Hissing water sprinklers. Panic-stricken people clamouring to get out. A fire or explosion in a high-rise building is a nightmarish thought, providing enough reason for people to keep an emergency escape hood and respirator handy. The hood itself makes it easier to see where you're going. And the respirator protects against smoke inhalation and poisoning by a variety of chemical fumes that are released in a fire. Comprehensive protection The Sundström SR77 escape hood provides protection against chemicals, smoke, fumes and other materials commonly released in a fire or chemical accident. The SR77 combines a silicone face piece with multi-purpose filters and a chemical-resistant hood that fits over the head. No training is required to fit the respirator. The hood is simply pulled over the head, and no further adjustment is necessary. One danger associated with smoke is disorientation due to eye irritation. The wide-vision polycarbonate visor keeps smoke away from the eyes. Low breathing resistance The face piece is a silicone Sundström respirator that provides low breathing resistance while finding fire escapes, clearing obstacles, descending stairs and other stressful work. Low breathing resistance is important in stressful situations and hard work: you MUST be able to breathe easily through the filter, or outside air will leak into the mask through the sides of the respirator. The Sundström filters offer extremely low resistance, letting you breathe hard while you escape the hazard. The gas portion of the filter not only protects against a wide variety of chemicals, but also against the big killer in burning environments: carbon monoxide. Smoke and dust from the fire are separated out by the integrated high-efficiency particle filter. Designed to be always at the ready, the escape hood comes in a handy contingency bag which can be kept in a drawer or even mounted on a waist belt.
