Bulk battery management system

Description

Multitasking

Care for up to 28 batteries

The battery is, of course, what drives the SEshield respirators. It is important to take care of the batteries, to recharge them in the correct way, and to keep them in peak condition at all times. Batteries can be used in several configurations, and battery management systems are available to keep a large number of batteries in optimum shape. The SE400 battery management system (known as “BattMan”) lets you store, manage and condition up to 28 batteries at the same time. The system is ideal for long-term storage of batteries. Batteries are drained, recharged and conditioned automatically from a single powerpoint.

Features

  • Battery charge level is detected when a battery is inserted or after the unit is powered up. When a highly charged battery is encountered, only a short post-trickle charge is applied, rather than a full charge cycle. This dramatically reduces the time for a fully laden battery manager to fully recover after a power interruption — from about 6 days to about 8-12 hours.
  • Some operations can be performed simultaneously on multiple batteries – the unit can charge one battery, discharge another and post-trickle charge two further batteries simultaneously. This reduces the time to process all batteries — a complete discharge-charge cycle is reduced from 12 to 5 days, while a complete charge-only cycle is reduced from about 7 days to about 12-48 hours.
  • A diagnostics display shows a wide range of information about the batteries and their condition.
  • There is comprehensive fault management for the unit and the batteries it manages. An extended error menu is available, plus comprehensive engineering information to assist with technical support.
  • An integrated self-test assists with technical support. Faulty batteries that cannot be charged are rejected and error-marked. An audible alarm complements the visual warnings. Future firmware upgrades and new features can be implemented without dismantling the unit. Current-management, power connections and ventilation further enhance reliability. Current-monitoring features augment the already high levels of fail-safety.
